As a client of Trip Adviser and Flip key, we are also getting more problems with people not trusting a deposit and asking for rent contracts to ensure they are booked in this is timely and as you know most of the smaller rental villas in Sanur and Bali are not competing with the larger more luxury places as owned by the forum Admin. But we have tried to contact Trip Advisor on this problem as they do make a lot of money on rental accommodation world wide, being either villas, hotels or large condotels, they have not come back with any proposed changes and seem to be not aware of the circumstances as your post includes.
The only thing I could suggest to anyone is SMS or Call the owners/proprietors as Avertised and deal direct with the management, Or if they have a seperate web site use that to contact them.
