Ok so this is going to be a long explanation.
I just happened to be looking online reading the news at after 11pm 25 th Dec. I was reading the news headlines for the following day which mentioned boxing day flights were to be on.
I stayed up for another 45 min till midnight when 26 Dec hit, there were masses of flights on Jetstar. I was checking on dates, went to the loo, came back and my first option went. Ok so I knew nothing was going to be left a few hours later. Sydney time is 3 hrs ahead of Perth so maybe the flights were on sale for 3 hours already, I don't know if they were released EDST.
Anyway I persevered, within minutes I picked up flights just 3 days from my original choice.
Notice the ones that posted they got flights were done within hours of the start of Boxing day. I checked the choices mid morning on Boxing day and most of the Perth to Bali legs were gone.
There probably was only a few seats on all flights yet by being prepared knowing your dates and just going for it is the way to go!
I have one other great hint yet I'll keep that to myself Haha.
