The "bikini ban" failed then and this will fail now.
In those areas such as Banda Aceh, Solo, and parts where strict Muslim principles apply, local standards will be policed and applied....just like they are now.
In tourist areas and the commercialised cities life will go on as normal.
There is too much Indonesian money tied up in the bar and other associated trades, and too many powerful people too.
Makes for good journalism though, even though the focus seems to be on the "unruly drinkers" and not at all on the business owners who encourage any amount of binge drinking in their own back yards.
I guess that religious principles go out the window when a few rupe is involved.
