Legian Accom + Kuta nightlife

Hi there!
I will be travelling to Bali in March and am looking for some advice on where to stay whilst in Legian. This will be my third trip over but I have ever stayed anywher but Sanur. I am also wondering about the nightlife, where's good and where to avoid?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
