My son was bitten by a dog in Poppies Lane around 30 years ago. At that stage Bali was clear of rabies but Indonesia was not. Our GP explained that the chances of him contracting rabies were practically zero but he and we, would be irresponsible if we didn't take a 'just in case'
attitude and get him treated. We did and I'm still pleased we did.
