..Proverbs and Puns have to do with culture, NOT language. For every proverb in any language you can easily find similarities in all other languages; for every similarity there will be dozens or hundreds that have nothing to do with each other.

Secondly, these proverbs you've presented are all in Bahasa Indonesia. Many are known to Balinese people, many are not. The Balinese language is especially rich in puns and proverbs, do you know any of them? This is, after all, a website about BALI.

Here's one for you: "Buka naar krupuke; gedenan munyi"

One more: "Buka becicane ujana". Ask your Balinese friends.

Lastly, I'm not from Oz-land, never even set foot there. My mother came from Ababi n Karangasm (look it up in Google maps), my Father from the States. My remark was meant to be ironic, not nasty.

Finally, my favorite, and perhaps appropriate for you: "Buka goake ngadanin ibane".
