..Most of those "tracks" are barely wide enough for your feet, there will be dogs running after you, elderly men with 30 kilos cut gras on their heads, the occasional water buffalo...walking is quite a beautiful thing to try. On the road leading up the hill you will come upon a stone stairway that will lead you down to a bathing area the farmers use, next to a sacred tree. From there you can cut across the dikes and become part of the scenery. If you come prepared for a run, you will most likely just get p*ssed off, that would be a shame. Or else go the other way and walk up to Puncak Sari, thru the village of Budakeling. It is a village of smiths (Pande) who are mostly Buddhists (Bali style). If the weather permits there will be a spectacular view of the Gunung Agung, and NO TOURISTS!!! Take it easy. Enjoy yourself, you'll always find a place with a pool.
