It is a little subjective and depends on the customs agents involved. If they believe you might be bringing the items in for re-sale, then you will be hit up with customs duty.
If you are planning on taking large quantities I would
1. contact Helen to see if she can put you in touch with the charity to get a letter, and
2. contact your local Indonesian Consulate and explain what you are doing and see if they can also give you some paperwork to get it through.
In the past I've had problems even with second hand goods, and new items are subject to much more scrutiny as it is easier to re-sell.
All that being said, I imagine customs will be well used to Australians bringing in petroleum jelly over the next few weeks and months, so you may not have any problems at all.
