and they are quite different hotels IMO with differnt ambience/atmosphere. The beach-end pool area/swim up bar at Puri Raja can be a bit "party central". The pool with swim up bar at the KP is much quieter (it is not the "main" pool). The rooms at KP are much nicer, with far better bathrooms than the Puri Raja. The cleanliness of the bathroom at the PR left a lot to be desired (and I'm no germophobe!!). The grounds are much nicer at the KP too.
Don't get me wrong - I have enjoyed more than one stay at the PR over the years, but I don't think you are comparing "apples with apples" with the 2 hotels. Staff at Puri Raja (especially in the restaurant & around the pool) are much friendlier than the KP but overall I think the KP is a better choice. Depends entirely on what you want though - if you are young and/or social then maybe the PR will suit better.
We booked the KP direct, I paid the deposit via my credit card (just faxed through the details direct to the hotel & received confirmation back that it had been received, also by fax).
