Flights I've always booked directly on the airline's website - usually Jetstar or Virgin, depending who has the best price for the dates I want.
Hotels I have most often booked directly via email, negotiating a better price for a longer stay (one month). This has always been with smaller and cheaper hotels though. This trip (in just over two weeks), I booked the hotel through Garuda Orient Holidays via their "Bali on Any Budget" website. They were the cheapest ones around at the time for Melasti Beach Resort - who don't seem to like direct bookings.
