After moving from my Nieces Villa to Batu Jimbar apartments i arranged to pick up another Niece and her daughter who would be celebrating her 12th birthday . Their flight was on time so dropped them off and headed home.
This was my first time exploring Sanur on a scooter by myself. I think I rode up and down almost every JI and gang around Sanur , staying hemmed in by the by-pass which scared the c%&p outta me. I would pull up and contemplate the risk everytime , but could never get over the insurance situation so would chicken out.
It was during my roaming that I found a couple of spots that most people who have been to Sanur would have found years ago. One was Luhtus Coffee Shop , on the beach near Tootsies ( Shindu?) Im an early riser and one morning around 7am I parked the bike and stopped for breakfast. This became part of my daily grind , sometimes lasting 2 ½ hours. My first brekky was off the alacarte menu and with a few coffees was a tad expensive. Then I noticed the American breakfast on the back of the menu. Fresh Juice , plate of mixed fruit , eggs anyhow , bacon or sausage served with fresh bread baked on site toasted with French butter.Wash it down with a 2 cup pot of Bali Coffee all for 30k.
Another great spot was further up the street called Cafe Maya. Set up as a healthy coffee shop doing a range of fresh fruit smoothies and fantastic coffee. They had a nice L shape lounge/ cushiony bit in the corner that became my cave for a few breakfast. A little more expensive but with a free laptop to use was a handy spot to check mail etc. Cost was a bit more but made a nice change. As I know most of you have had trouble finding it , I can advise that Snuff Tobacco is also available at the cafe just in case.

In the same street is PJs Tattoo Studio where I got my Tattoo done. I wanted to get a 'Bali' style tatto and was put on to him by a friend who had a lot of work done there. He had a great book of various mythical Hindu drawings and I settled on a Barong , not sure which one it is ( I understand there is a good one and a evil one?) His shop was cleaner than most hospitals Ive been in. The Tattoo area is sealed off from the rest of the shop.he has all the proper sterlisers and gets his ink from the USA. All jobs have new needles and he is fastidious with his work. I think he worked with his Uncle who had the original shop in sanur. 2 other friends also got work done there , one a full sleeve of Hindu characters.
PJs is JL Pantai Shindu No 4 Sanur. Cafe Maya is across the rd and down 30m.Luhtus is right at the end on the left.
The Babi Guling in Denpasar was at Warung Nasi Khas Bali
Gema Ripah?
The Coffee bean place is called Bhineka Jaya
JL gajah mada no 80 Denpasar.
This is all a little bit random due to failing memory. Im using my FB checkins to jolt my memory. More to come , including my brush with the law.
