I use an optus prepaid card. I put credit on it before I leave home and when I land in Bali, the bridging alliance cuts in and turns my SIM to Simpati at Bali prices.
This is going to be a more expensive way to get credit on your phone, but I find the convenience of being able to let everyone at home know your phone number in advance and not having to worry about setting your phone up as soon as you land outweighs the cost.
