Make sure you turn off global roaming to keep down bills at home, and let your friends know if they want to contact you to email you. (mail2web) is free worldwide to receive emails. Keep messages short as free WiFi everywhere. most places change their password daily.
I have 3 bali Sims and use them all the time and just add credit before I go.
A lot of the hotels only have WiFi in public area's so if in your room free WiFi can be a bit of a problem. I have a HTC which has a WiFi hotspot facility. I use a Bali Sim and turn this on in the room and have great access for tablet etc.
