Well here I am back in Legian after seven glorious days in Amed. If I have a spiritual home, then this is it. We stay at Wawa Wewe 2 and simply love it. The staff are kind, the food is good and the beer is very nearly cold!

We swim, read, ponder life and eat. We go and see the live bands, we do a lot of nothing.

On two nights we ate at Sails and I want to give a full review as a couple of years ago I was a bit flippant abut the service and realised later how hurtful and unfair that was.

Sails staff picked us up and drove us to the restaurant. As we sat on the dining area, we watched the moon rise, firstly red and then bright and clear (a full moon as well). I was a little off colour ( a bit crook in Aussie language) so didn't get the full value of my meal, but enjoyed genuine mashed potatoes and grilled fish. The others ripped into their meals and then we all shared dessert.

The second visit was better for me as I was in good health (not crook for the Aussies)and really wanted to whack in some solid food after eating very sparingly. I had a cheese burger with a steak mince pattie and carmalised onion. It was better than I can describe.

The beer was very cold.

I know the owner, Rangi, checks the forum, so I'd like to mention that my credit card charge from 30 August has yet to appear or even have a hold on the payment so if there is a problem I will monitor responses to this posting and organise a direct payment.

I'm not in the game of ripping people off.

In Legian Seminark we have good meals at Tokor Bali, Kumala Pantai and Wayan and Friends. The meal at Mozzarella by The Sea was not good - which was disappointing as the other Mozz. has never let us down.

I did visit S and S, but (and this is not a criticism), no one seemed to be talking to anyone. Perhaps they had nothing to say. I am an outsider, being a Kiwi, and Smudge who is always friendly was not there. No problem, we found another bar.

Bali has not lost it magic after 12 visits. There seems to be very few tourists.

And I am still the whitest man on the island. A tan seems outside of my capabilities.

Bruce (who backs the All Blacks, who also seem to win quite a lot).
