Sometimes you see a sign 'Antik, terus dari pabrik'. This translates as 'Antiques, straight from the factory'!

Is this legitimate sales technique, Trolleyology or is it an attempt at fiddle? It somtimes works as in Ireland post-war when an invasion of Americans arrived, seeking their roots and buying lots of souvenirs, which were stamped 'made in Japan' which decreased sales somewhat as word got around. Undaunted, the irish entrepeneurs changed the stamp, for legal reasons of course, to 'Deanta san Seapain' in Gaelic lettering, which resulted in sales rocketing as the cry went up 'look Maudie, they even have quaint Celtic writing on them!'

Caveat emptor 'buyer beware' as they say, since tourists have been fiddled ever since ancient Rome.
