As Gyroscope would sing, 'Baby I'm getting better', following my Lembongan cliff jump fiasco yesterday.
Although that wasn't the case this morning after a restless night sleep. My lower back had seized up overnight and I was moping around like the walking wounded, making zombie sounds like the walking dead. So much so I ambled down to the local doctor, like a Thunderbird (after a big night out ) after breakfast. The Doc found it all very funny, 'Ah ha yes yes, mister, cliff jump, ha-ha'. He must have been a doctor he had three official looking certificates on his stained walls in his box like office. Just give me some stronger drugs mate, 'OK, OK I give you needle'. So he loaded the syringe with a pain killer, muscle relaxant and an ant-inflammatory. It was as I was laying on his bench that suddenly I had second thoughts. This guy was laughing like Dr Evil and flicking a syringe he was about to plunge into my back. I was half expecting 007 or a Navy Seal team to burst through the door with some flash bangs and guns drawn to announce, 'It's OK we are here to take you home'. Through what I hope was a mutual conversation he assured me that he wasn't injecting into my spinal column, just the good old Aussie back-fat.
Not long after I felt things start to loosen up. After my other tablets and a bit of movement I have slowly started to improve. At this rate in maybe 2-3 days the twinges and twangs may go away. I can now even bend down tenterlively to get things off the floor. I hope so anyway as we have planned Waterbom for Thursday. Rest assured I will still take it very easy for the rest of the trip.
At 10am we moved from Villa 6 at LIBV to Villa 10. Villa 10 is at the very top of the stairs. When I say stairs this resort is built like a Mayan Temple. We enlisted the aid of the resort porter who is a big muscly Indonesian fella. Needless to say I could lift only a snorkel bag, he made two trips lugging heavy luggage for four (and my wife packs the kitchen sink). I was so appreciative I slipped him RP 50 000. Best 10 minutes work of his life I reckon.
Upon entry to our new villa my son said, 'Dad I think we have picked a winner here'. Villa 10 has three upstairs air-conditioned bedrooms and a plunge pool twice the size of villa six and an even better view (if that is even possible).
By lunch time I had improved enough to join two other Tassie families at Ketuts Warung for a sensational feed of homemade Lumpia. Three lumpia (spring rolls) twice the size of a chicco roll came out covering a plate. They are definitely a meal on their own. Twelve adults and kids chowed down at minimal cost in happy surrounds.
After lunch and my tri-daily meds it was back to the villa at the top of Everest for a good soaking in the plunge pool. Son and wife were glued to the AFL on the Australia Network, ..... bloody footy heads.
Having done swapsies with another Tassie family with the kids, tonight was our turn to venture out to The Batu Karang Resort Restaurant. Good company, twinkling views and foodie grub made for a relaxing mix. Not cheap but we only shared an entrée & main and had a glass of average wine each. Must say the calamari entrée was sensational, no rubber here.
Back to the villa, tucked in the tuckered tykes and back to my book on the balcony about two blokes who rode around Oz on Triumphs. Someone must have failed to tell them that our home state is part of the nation. Tassie left off the map yet again, grrrrr.
Anyway no handstands or cartwheels but I can feel my back is on the mend. Or I'm just off my head on pills :}
