Yesterday, I brought my son for his first visit to Bina Ekklesia orphanage (anywhere, not just in Bali). Friends of mine had told me about this place and I really wanted to see it for myself, to find out out what was needed and to learn more about the set-up. I had gone to Ramayana and Lotte Mart earlier to buy a bunch of things to bring as our donation.

There are 15 children living here. The youngest one I met was 4 years old. Most are school-going age. They live in a 3 bedroom place in largely poor condition. Their biggest fear is rain, as virtually all the ceilings leak and cause flooding, so no one sleeps when it rains as everyone tries to save and salvage their valuables during the rains.

They share one bathroom (and when I looked in, there seemed to be only 3 toothbrushes (so thankfully I had bought them 24)...

All the little boys sleep in one tiny room on mattresses, all the little girls sleep in another.

I've added a link here to a site built by another lady I know who is a regular contributor to this orphanage.
