...so here I am sitting patiently on my porch at SBVs because I am such a patient person and also because I have locked myself out and Brian is in the shower. Clear blue sky, beautiful temperature and visions of mixed omlettes floating in my head. Well, actually the omlette will be on a plate but the vision is in my head. Room no 6 is turning out very well indeed and is very quiet at night because it is away from the road.
Have eaten a couple of times down at Mertasari Beach and find the best way to handle the new fence is to shut my eyes when passing. Kesuma is up and trading in it's new home and Nyoman is fully open again with the fence appearing to be diverted around it. Treo's appears to be finished at least at this point. The first one coming from the temple end which used to be called Bamboo and now is called something like Mertasari Cafe is still open and trading too. Also thankfully, the tiny Warung Lia at the Mercure end of the strip is still going too as is the newer one almost next door, name evades me again. (I used to have a good memory but have forgotten where I left it) so all at Mertasari Beach is almost as normal if you shut your eyes and don't mind about Treo. NB. The fish and squid at Kesuma was as good as always and the seafood kebab at Lia was as amazing as I have been dreaming since last time.
Up the other end near where the late lamented Bonsai was the same system worked for me, just don't look. In reality that doesn't change the fact that the local traders are down a lot of business and are now waiting for the potential new custom from the new hotel and that is probably going to be a long wait. We had a very nice lunch and a sit on the beach chairs at Anjani.
Had dinner at The Ugly Duckling and listened to the Batak singers doing what they do best and ate a very enjoyable dinner. My favourite is the Balinese Chicken and I can't for the life of me remember what Brian had. Probably because I was selfishly fixated on the Balinese Chicken and the Batak singers...sigh....
Am invited to a BBQ later here so my appointed job is to go out and seek some noisy Bintang singlet wearing bogans and drag them in off the street so that the whole thing won't be too classy and wreck the whole reputation the place. I am a little surprised to be invited because Pak Ron does have some standards but I suppose it would be a bit hard to disguise the fact that they are having a BBQ right here by the pool especially if I am swimming up and down at the time.
