Firstly it's Tanah Lot might be a little difficult explaining "tahan lot" to a driver. I agree early afternoon and catch the sunset there is awesome. Dinner at echo beach and close by to Tanah Lot after you have caught the sunset would be good. Long drive back to Sanur though after a few the only drama. Make sure your constitution is up to the longish drive back to Sanur. Explore as much of Sanur and the surrounds as you can awesome place. The restaurants either on jln tamblingan or jln cemara or all along the beachfront are awesome. You will appreciate the laid back attitude of Sanur when you experience the hussle and bustle of Kuta, Legian. Which you have to do. Avoid at all costs the surveys, the tickets that you will automatically win a prize with, but you have to go in a taxi to redeem, as they are time share sales gimmicks. First timers are a prize target!!!
You have to go to Kintamani as a first timer, though I agree, the hawkers are murder but you have to go to experience it. Bedugul, Ubud and Jimbaran are a must for first timers. A monkey forrest trip should be on the agenda just to say you have done it but beware!!! Those monkeys can be over friendly!!! There are a few Monkey Forrests, Ubud has one and probably given the time constraints is probably the best one to do whilst you are in Ubud. Mindful also that you are there for the first time and a day sitting by the pool, chilling and doing nothing and then a day exploring isn't a bad idea. What ever floats your boat. Shopping is good, probably Kuta, Legian better than Sanur for shopping. Matahari in Kuta, there is also a Matahari behind Bali Galleria, you'll love the shops there as well.
Centro and all of the shops in there as well.
There is so much to see and do, you'll read this and say how the heck am I going to do all of this. That's just it. If you don't get it all done, then there is next time. Don't kid yourself there will be, a next time. You too will get the Bali bug, and be back!!
By the way, the most important thing is nothing happens in a hurry it happens in Bali time. You will see!!!, Chill!!!
