After the early wakeup this morning it was adept to bomb in our villa pool to let the revellers next door know we were starting our day. Geez I'm sounding like an old fuddy duddy. I can remember when I was quite the party lad. Anyway I'm older and much more mature now ..........not!

Speaking of being an old geezer I have a floppy sun hat given to me as a Christmas pressie. It is quite comfy and practical. Apparently I am embarrassing wearing it and the wife and kids reckon I look like an old pom. Sorry too all you English people out there in cyber land. Since I come from pommy stock, what's the problem. Apparently I have to buy a new trendy cap and my favourite floppy is going missing soon. I also need some wrist bands like the people on the tour boat today with arms like Masai Warriors necks. Perhaps I'm just not up with it. It's a very happy planet the world I live on though.

Back to the day. Light buffet breakfast at the Boat House Resort this morning. The high tide lapping at the foot of the beachside restaurant made me feel like more of a dill for attempting to snorkel in the changing tide yesterday. Hash browns and omelette for me. Eggs and various for the others. Think I have over done the eggs thing today and it may shine through later.

Then we doddled off to do our public snorkel trip around the three Gili Islands. It's been a picture perfect day with clear seas, so what a recipe for success. Our boat had about 25 on board from all walks. Over half were chatty backpackers living on about $20-$30 bucks a day. I shuddered when one complained her accom was ten quid a day. Makes me thankful for saving hard for the last two years to have a reasonable luxury stay this time round. Although I have travelled on the cheap before so can get where she was coming from. Back then I measured all my outlays in beer and would stay in a tent in a paddock to have a good night out.

The snorkel trip cost us under AUS $10 each. Might have been a whole ten bucks if were didn't have our own kit. The trip lasted 6 hours. We visited 5 snorkel sites with a stop for lunch on Gili Air. Plenty of colourful fish. The tours pride themselves on seeing turtles. It wasn't until the last stop that I saw four (Mertle the turtles) so I felt quite privileged. Got some fantastic photos and footage of the rock stars in action. Heaven knows what this would cost back home.

Side note: I am a walking cluster f#$k at the moment. Being six foot six I bang my head at the best of times. In a middle earth country of midgets like this, this happens tenfold. Since my arrival I have donked my scon dozens of times and have a permanent lump on my cranium. It started on the plane actually. Yesterday I managed a massive whack on a metal handle on the ferry roof and today another one on the tour boat roof. Both occasions have left me wincing in pain like a pro-soccer player, rubbing my noggin and a sick feeling in my mouth. It does cause my family considerable pleasure and mirth, the compassionate lot.

Dinner tonight was at the well patronised street market near the wharf. The kids and I had satays and rice @ RP25 000 each. Ten small satays to a dish. The wife had a nasi campur combo @ RP 25 000. Whooo that certainly didn't break the bank, the grub was sensational and the cheap as chips magnum ice-creams on the way back just topped it off.

Mr Binnie and G & T have been my friend this evening. The kids have challenged me to one AFD this trip, just don't know where that may fit in?
