Well a truly wondrous day in spectacular sunny Sanur.
Kids were up and in our villa pool at 6am under threat of death if they made a commotion. Having a nine year old squealer makes that a real challenge.
Light stroll along the beachfront then back to "The Porch Cafe" for breakfast on the main drag.
My wife is the keeper of all gastronomic records and recommendations so any failure on her behalf will be met with great mirth and whispering of disparaging comments.
Again she has picked a winner. Egg & bacon buns, egg & bacon sandwiches, hash browns and pancakes plus assorted drinks were order of the day. Needless to say the servings are quite large to absolutely huge, and I am BIG on the fang. Food was fantastic and we will be back tomorrow morning to share half as many dishes so we may fit a lunch in this time.
Not the cheapest of breakfasts, about ten bucks each ...... will be cheaper tomorrow when we share the dishes. Trying to put it in perspective though. Breakfast for four at our airport hotel in Melbourne (if we had been stupid enough to take it) would have been AUS. $35 each!!!. $140 nicka for a family morning grubfest, .... me thinks not.
Ducked in to "Romantic Tailor" next to Ducks Nutz to order a few business shirts @ RP 150 000 each. Don't know if that's a good price but it sounded OK to me.
Anyway back to the days activities. A reasonable stroll up to the Scoot Boat office near the Paradise Plaza Hotel to book our next sojourn off the coast and then a walk back to our villa.
Stopped in at Tootsies fixed price shop after running the gauntlet of the outer and inner perimiter pushy (yes, you come to my shop !! tout ladies) near Sindu Beach Market. Spent a pittance on sundry items at Tootsies to appease the shopping Gods.
Encountered that endangered species on the amble back (whinges annoyus whinest childest). Constant bleating about being hot and moans for a Bluebird taxi were met with the usual compassion of "c'mon toughen up, we are nearly there". A well timed cornetto icecream did the trick.
The rest of the day spent swimming in our villa pool and ducking over to the Villa Shanti for a dip in the resort pool.
Dinner was at the Mona Lisa Cafe. What can I say ..... but yummmmmmmy.
Plucked up the courage to ask the waitress in the local lingo for my egg preference on my Nasi Goreng. Was met with slight laughter, thinking formites had conspired for me to propose matrimony or something. She just said back in perfect English, "so you want your egg sunny side up?"....... ah yep that would work wouldn't it ....duh..
Anyway Mona Lisa gets the full five stars at a very reasonable price. The lumpia entree (spring rolls) was presented in a classy pastry cup and tasted beaut (being a Lumpia W@nker is better than being a wine w@nker). My wife's green curry chicken was absolutely superb and my Nasi Goreng Special was fantastic.
After dinner drinks at Barbs packed full Aussie Bar to watch the end of the AFL. NRL also playing onsite and a happy crowd and staff made for a very pleasant atmos.
Feeling very relaxed and ready for tomorrow hanging out with dolphins and perhaps a few mermaids if I'm lucky.
