Put in a 'lost baggage claim' form at the airport. Be sure Garuda have the address and phone number of wherever you are staying; follow up with Garuda as often as possible - twice a day at least.

Research the compensation procedures for Garuda.

We were flying Malaysian Air to Siem Reap, and my bag went to Bangkok. It was found and delivered two days late. I was recompensed about $90 by Malaysian for stuff I'd bought to replace clothing I needed (had receipts).

Usually they've 'misplaced' the bag - and it'll turn up. It's still a real pain in the 'a'.
