It's all much of a muchness really. It takes less than a minute to walk from the ones closest to the pool to the ones closest to the restaurant/beach road.
You'd be better off making a request for either ground floor or 2nd floor - and either twin or queen bedding, depending on what you prefer. Ground floor obviously means no stairs, but less privacy on your veranda. Upstairs isn't too hard to climb to, and you get a little more privacy when sitting outside, but you do still share a large veranda with the room next door.
The ones closer to the pool are not facing the pool so you can't watch kids from the balcony - so no real gain there. The pool noise was never an issue when we stayed in the upstairs cottage suite closest to the pool so no down side either.
