If you stay in Legian or Kuta, you will have to put up with traffic travelling to and from Sanur. Depending on the time of day, could be an hour. Could be a little less, but could certainly be longer.
I think if you have to be in Sanur everyday, I would stay in Sanur and travel over to the Kuta / Legian area occassionally.
