HI'm here now and managing fine gf, but I'm not 16 yo boy! Yes bring own snacks much easier. I bought Bali Buddha bread and agree it's rock hard, but ok well toasted(get shop to slice it). Needs sloppy jam and banana and a big drink to wash it down!! I also bought pkt of gf bread mix to try as I'm spending a month in orphanage and can use kitchen.
I've had great and sympathetic response to " says alergi teping terigu dan gandum" - wheat flour and the wheat found in soy sauce. I snack on beautiful peanuts, fruit and thick sweet rice cakes. Oblong about 1x3 cm wrapped in plastic. Name is gipang gula merah, should be easy to find. And if you go to a local market ask for lak- lak or other pancake like sweet things "Tampa teping terigu" without wheat flour. Good luck and enjoy
