Well, OK that is a slight exageration. Let's call it Sawah Trekking in Lovina. There again maybe that too is a little excessive so to be honest we went for a walk down the beach but found our way barred by high tide and so went for a stroll amongst the rice fields.

We ended up at Jati Reef where we stayed more than 20 years ago in a losmen which was then in the middle of nowhere. Now they have a big morning market going there with toys and clothes and household goods and food of course so while the KK enjoyed a Bakso Ayam I had a little wander around and found the kindy gambling school. A little boy of about 10 or so was running the school and his clients were aged from about 5 up. The game resembled Crown and Anchor but with pictures of animals, deer, elephant etc. They were wagering coins and Rp.1000 notes and he was raking it in. Their Dad's and Grandads were proudly watching on and as I moved along I was expecting at any moment to come upon a group of 8yos with their fighting chicks!

There were about 3 groups of kids who appeared to be grouped according to age. I wonder if they need to graduate from Taman Kanak Gambling in order to play in the SD Gambling and so on. Would it be humiliating to be held back? However one thing I am pretty sure of is that the kid running the school is certainly going to go far!

Bali Taman is a very pleasant hotel to stay in. Big clean rooms and bathrooms and a nice pool near the beach at the back of the property. Our little bungalow is very pretty and set amongst the gardens. A possible downside to the location is that it is quite a way from the restaurants etc. at Kalibukbuk but since the public bemos run past frequently this is not a big problem and it is beautifully peaceful here at night.
