I would have thought that you could only take it as hand luggage if its under 100ml - same as all other liquids. So - if its larger, you'll have to take it in your checked in luggage and MAY, not sure, have to declare it at the other end. Best also to check with the airlines before you check in as they may have some regulations regarding tking this type of liquid anywhere on the plane. Flew domestic the other day and Qantas had a large list of banned items of all kinds on their planes.
