the language it depends on the person, my husband is fluent in Indonesian, I still find it difficult but I find Basa Bali very easy, he says it's not as easy for him but uses it daily. I know that after using Indonesian and Balinese on a daily basis I now found I have lost my mother language and I find English difficult (spoke it for 30 years), there is just not much room in there for too many languages with me but hubby is up to 5 fluent and good in another 3 (envious?? Oh yeh!).
Note: as GaryD said the dialect changes, I still find the village next to where I work really difficult, took me 1 year to work out they were asking me where I was going as opposed to if I was working. It is polite to ask someone where they are going, it means you have manners.
