What you've said is basically correct Fiona, a species of civet cat (luwak) was identified as a vector for the SARS virus. That being said AQIS reasoning is ridiculous and, IMO, more to do with bureaucracy than any real 'safety' issues. Coffee is roasted for around 15 minutes with the final few minutes up over 200C, usually up around 211C. The SARS virus is inactivated at 55C (see the link below) so that isn't a valid argument.
