We just did the day trip, which was enough, to be honest. Saw the show, had a look around, rode the elephant, had lunch and that was the park pretty much done. Lunch was fantastic, by the way. Best buffet lunch I've had in Bali.
The only thing I didn't like about doing the day trip was related to the shuttle bus. They picked us up (4 of us) from our hotel, and two other groups of 2 people at two other hotels. Then when we'd had lunch and were wandering back out checking the museum they were trying to put the hurry up on us because the others were ready to go. So what? We didn't book with them, and there were plenty of other shuttle buses parked up they could have taken us back on but they seemed to insist that 3 groups of strangers who had booked separately were supposedly a group together.
We made them wait till we were ready. We figured that we'd paid nearly $350 between us, so we weren't going to be rushed and miss out on seeing everything before we left. :)
I'm not sure what the extras are you'd get for staying there, aside from a second elephant ride to the restaurant for dinner. Someone who has stayed might be able to elaborate on that.
There was a lady and her son at my hotel who did the night safari and said they wished they'd done the day time one, since the night one was shorter and with no lighting on the trail, they couldn't see a thing.
