last trip we booked some tours from the guys at the stand across from our apartments (on JL Padma Utara) - like the Bali Hai Cruise and they had discounted tickets to Waterbom pary.
Taro Elephant Park and Bali Zoo we booked in Bali directly with them online as we found this cheaper
Mara River we booked direct from home the accom/park inclusions as we got a firm price in US$ and could take it with us from home.
Never had a bad booking with any method, but do agree with others in that I only ever pay a small deposit at the booth and then pay the balance when I arrive at the destination (after being picked up).
