I have used the intersections at the lights to cross on Sunset Rd (wait in the median strip) but find this a bit difficult as you still have to cope with traffic turning etc as you cross.

Now I walk along a bit away from the lights.
Cross when there's a break in traffic, wait in the median strip and then cross when there's a gap that side :)
But that is not a huge 5/6 road intersection like near where you are

I wouldn't be doing the hand waving thingy along Sunset Rd
Ok on smaller roads & gangs where traffic has slowed but Sunset Rd..is fast

From Legian Guesthouse you could walk the other way to Imam Bonjol/Raya Kuta and bypass that huge intersection altogether
