Samsara Inn is located in a laneway off to the left before Bemo Corner. its a VERY pretty little hotel, with a modern colonial feel to it (if that makes sense). rooms are compact, but tick all the boxes. i dont think that there are bathtubs in the rooms - only showers. pool area is smallish.
i would say that this is recommended for people on a budget but who want clean and comfortable accommodation with NO SMOKING in the hotel. for a group of ladies, say, who were coming over to celebrate a 40th or 50th birthday, for example, this is the perfect place. there is also no bar as such, but they DO serve drinks - just not from a bar.
id say its not really family friendly and sits at about 2.5 star.
for the Maharani hotel, its not yet complete. i believe it will be about 6 weeks away. great location - corner of poppies 1 and the beach road - just across from KutaBex.
rooms will be simple, yet again they will tick all the boxes. some of the rooms on the top floor have a fantastic view of the beach all they way from the airport to seminyak and beyond.
there will be a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, and the hotel has a definite Balinese flavour.
id give this between 2.5 - 3 stars.
