Good point, mind you I never hand anyone money as it's not actually the true Balinese way of doing things.
I do hand them food, food is always the most precious recourse we have. Traditional Balinese taught me that lesson, or it could have been my European grandmother, either way, actually it must have been from pre-Bali because I used to buy McDonalds for the homeless in Swanseton Street Melbourne when I'd had a few drinks and we'd all sit in the gutter eating it (must have looked a site, me in my business suit sitting with 50 homeless people eating Macca's in the gutter - ah the memories of Oz).
