Just got back from Bali less than a week ago.

We spent a week in Ubud and stumbled upon a great driver called Agung.

In case you weren't aware, there are no taxis in Ubud. Everytime you can't be bothered walking somewhere (maybe a far away restaurant etc.) you have to haggle with the nearest driver. This gets rather tedious after a day or two so we found Agung and negotiated passage anywhere in the greater Ubud area for Rp20,000 a trip. We would simply call (or sms) him on his mobile and he would pick us up, drop us off (sometimes even wait for us outside) and then pick us up again etc.etc. at 20k a pop. Easy.
N.B. If your hotel in Ubud offers free shuttle then the above advice won't be necessary of course.

Better still, on the occasion that we needed a driver for touring he offered to take us around for Rp250,000 full day and Rp150,000 half day. Bargain!!!

When we said we wanted to do a cycling tour he managed to get it for us for Rp100,000 less than the internet price with a very good company.

Agung is a good driver and has a nice air-con van.
If you're interested, his number is 0812 3681206.
Tell him Steve from Sri Wedari and Dave from Sri Bungalows recommended him and that he has to do the same price. (Tell him you're friends of mine or something)

Seriously, he's a nice bloke and the prices are genuine.
If you're serious, let me know and I'll text him to expect your call.

Hope this helps.
