Lombok is a large island of similar size to Bali, so just like you know you wouldn't see much of Bali if you went there on a day trip, same goes for Lombok.
If you have limited time, rather than Senggigi I'd recommend you fly over and stay around Kuta Lombok area, which is only 20 mins from the airport (compared to 1.5 hours for Senggigi). It has much better beaches than the Senggigi area. There is a range of accommodation from cheap homestays to 4 star hotels. From there you can do a day trip to see some sights. I'd recommend a minimum of 2 nights. Next time you will want to go for longer.
