I try to fly with Lion Air - the most reliable usually after the Garuda flights. Stay in Senggigi where there is a wide range of accomodation. I would recommend Mascot Cottages in the centre of town.
Cheap, simple, clean and on the beach - they also have a new swimming pool.
The distance of 1.5 hours driving from the airport means you need to stay a day of so. You will enjoy it also - a great place with very nice local people.
