Roz, you are far from foolish :) You are kind hearted and don't like to think that anybody could be so desperate as to ask a stranger for money... unfortunately this wouldn't have been a one off for this young lady and if you give her money you will be asked many many more times to come :( As hard as it is, you are doing the right thing, you have done your fair share (plus more) and that should have been ample for her until she is well again.
Don't change a thing about you Roz, more kind hearted people like you in the world sounds perfect x
