You will be horrified at the lack of road rules, mad drivers and number of trucks doing whatever they like on the roads. You might not be doing more than 40mph, but the nutcase that hits you could be doing any speed. I wouldn't even consider not putting kids in car seats there, once you get there you'll understand. Please also have a look online at the astonishing numbers of road accidents in Bali every single day. If you can handle those numbers and still think no car seats are ok, then good luck. The anxiety would kill me before we even got out of the airport car park.
