We went (on recommendation) with GiliCat fastboat they were charging slightly more than a lot of other company's but I prefer safety over cost. They pick you up from wherever you are staying in Bali and then transport you to the boat in Padang Bai. Morning trips are better than afternoon.
We (a family of 4) stayed at Martas Bungalows, which is not on the beach but only 100 metres from the water. They include a good basic breakfast and have rooms for your family of 5. We found the staff at Marta's fantastic and they were always quick in replying to emails. They have a nice smallish pool. I don't think they serve any other meals but you only have to walk for less than 1 minute and you have a strip of restaurants. 10 minute walk north and you can snorkel off the beach (although strong current) 15 minutes more walking to the top of the island and there is another snorkelling spot where the current is not so strong.
