Refunds

I booked a flight through Direct Flights flying Garuda, the person can no longer come with us. The ticket was $650.00. Direct Flights will take $400.00 off in cancellations fees. Then Garuda will take their bit off. What the????? I'm think I am basically saying goodbye to $650.00. The flight isn't until January next year.
