I have never even considered cash. What haPpens if for one reason or another you lose it all? Your screwed. Yes insurance will cover some - but it will take until a while after your home for them to repay you.
You also don't run the risk of being scammed by a money changer. As for those who say what happens if you lose your card? Well you can do what I do I take two or three cards, you can transfer funds between them if need be. I also only take the card out when I need it - it's in the safe the rest of the time. Another precaution I take is leaving my cash in an online only savings account which prevents a lot of fraud risk. Just transfer it to the card account when I need to withdraw. (easily done on a smart phone on a matter of seconds these days)
it's your choice entirely but I'm amazed people still take cash - I haven't taken. Ash on holiday since the late 90's.
