Went to komodo island recently but did it a different way.Flew from Denpasar to Labuanbajo on Flores, which is the jump off point to komodo and Rinca island (also has the dragons).Went straight from the airport to the harbour and took a boat out to a very small resort on Kanawa Island.(about 45 minutes)Fairly primitive but wonderful snorkelling and diving right outside your hut on a white sandy beach.Cheap as chips,about $40 per night.(google Kanawa island resort).Took a fantastic daytrip by local boat direct from Kanawa to Komodo island.Saw the dragons and did some great snorkellig straight off the boat on the way back.Lots of great coral and crystal clear water.Stayed a couple of nights back at Labuanbajo and stayed at a great little hotel with magnificent views of the harbour and all the outlying islands.Again the hotel was only about $40 per night incl.breakfast.Bayview gardens hotel.Went for about a week and it was a great adventure.
