So, more on Day 5 - after lunch we are taken back to the hotel - the girls were absolutely raving about the fantastic time they had, I was still shaking in my boots!
FN bounces out of the car at the hotel and says ' Lets do that again'......I say nothing!
The boys, meanwhile, have been on their quest and have watches ready for judging at dinner tomorrow night as MN and FN have a romantic dinner planned.
Problem is the boys, exhausted by the quest, have spent most of the day at a beach bar where MN has promised all the beach sellers he would be back at 10am tomorrow to buy watches, sunglasses, hats etc etc etc, of course he doesn't go near the beach again for the rest of the trip!!!!
FN is fed lots of very strong coffee by MS so that he can at least make dinner before he falls asleep.
Meanwhile the girls, having previously booked their post horsey massages and scrubs, head off to Santai spa, although one of our number wont shutup (too many bintangs and too many more), the massage puts her to sleep and all is well with the world!
MS, FS and the tour guides wander up to Sarpino's for a pizza - nice pizzas but more garlic needed! Small pizza 60K, Bintangs 24K.
We decide to critique Sheppy's Margharitas as recommended by the forum. Yes, they are the best in Bali - we discuss the making of a good Margharita with Sheppy as we have another, another, another 48K each. Bintangs also super cold here 19K (I think).
Giggle our way home along the beach road sneaking in to spy on MN and FN at their romantic dinner but hilariously discover we are in the wrong hotel. LOL LOL LOL.
Day 6 - Exhausted after day 5's adventures we have a slow day.
Taxi to Seminyak Square, check out Lilla Lane - beautiful shoes (approx 600K) but nothing there for my clodhopper.
Back for a swim and the tour guides decide to check out Wali's Warung for lunch, the others are happy with chips. Garlic and chilli prawns for me and chicken with kecap manis for him, 4 bintangs 185K.
Head back to Brisbane Tailor to pick up suit - beautifully tailored, some minor adjustments. Skirts are excellent, repairs also - very, very happy with cheeky Mr Ansor ( I think) I chat in my limited Bahasa Indonesian and we have a joke, but he sticks to his price!
Back for more anaesthetic - Lychee cocktails at the pool mmmmm, Garlic Lane Restaurant for dinner. Lobster spaghetti (only just OK), chicken curry (good), 3 bintangs, 1 lemonade 185K.
The watch competition is judged, there are all pretty fantastically crass, the winner has to wear all 3 watches for a day, and make a perpetual trophy when we get back to Oz.
The winner is............MN, with a fantastic creation with diamonds around the bold silver face, a leopard skin band and - Levi written on the back - beautiful, definitely worthy, and from a newbie - I'm impressed!
All pretty exhausted we swing home via Jimmy's disc. Many bags of DVD's later (buy 10 get 4 free at 10K each) we struggle home.
Day 7 - Oh, Oh - MTG has the tummy rumbles, FTG has some too.
We head off to Matahari as they have some really unusual mens T shirts for 55K. Heaps of womens shoes, too many to choose from.
We head to Gloria's for a coffee and have to hurry home due to the rumbles. It wont slow me down, I think! But it sure has slowed down MTG, he has to keep within running distance of a kamar kecil!
Back out to Garlic Lane to buy some of those fabulously comfortable (but not so fashionable) fake crocs thongs 100K, 2 long dresses on the way home 300K, too expensive but I like them and will have them taken up by Brisbane Tailor.
Mozarella for lunch, LUUUUUV their Mie Goreng - best in Bali plus a Bintang 66K. Back to tailor, skirt hems 50K for both. On way home stop at Santai Spa, 30 minute massage - divine. Satay sticks at Biancos for dinner plus one bintang 78K, run home to deal with the belly.
Think what you like but all the NN ate at Garlic Lane and we are the only ones with Bali belly. We are pretty sure we know where we picked it up!
