They checked our duty free... at first they thought that we had 1 litre for our 16 year old son and he was just about to tell my husband that it wasn't allowed when my husband pointed me out standing behind him... we were then waved through. But yes! they do check. I wouldn't do it, will be more time wasted at the airport.
