Why does 2 weeks never seem enough but only 12 weeks and I go back for anothyer 2 weeks. This time I flew Virgin across and Jetstar back always fly garuda usually however cheap deals saw me with these 2 options. Both great flights, both left on time in fact The Virgin flight got to bali and hour early.But I still prefer Garuda!
This time we stayed in a villa. A friend found a private rental for us in Legian/Seminyak border, we were so close to everything but a million miles away from the noise of Jalan legian. Down a gang were the local gang keeper put out his roosters each morning and his beautiful warbling birds in their cages along the fence he took such pride in his birds and keeping the gang clean, sweeping each day, always greeting us with hello he was like a security guard keeping his eyes on the 3 middle aged girls who were staying down the lane.
The Villa was divine 3 bedrooms open plan living area and kitchen and best of all beautiful garden and our own pool, no need to worry about showing our wobbly bits off. 2 gorgeuos housekeepers and a gardener. we loved this place so much for its privacy that we have booked it again for September.
2 of us had been to Bali numerous times over the past 30 years this time we had a newbie with us so we did a few sight seeing days for her, mustering up our trusty driver and friend roger the dodger we went to Tanah lot, Nusa Dua,Ulawattu, Ubud and a shopping day outing.
Places we ate,
* Gateway to India at Seminyak
* Panterai Greek at seminyak (several times great great food and atmosphere)
* Sengara at the back of discovery
* Oceans 27 downstairs at the back of discovery, sitting in a pool on a hot night eating and drinking.
* Jimbarian Bay for the sunset and watching the planes take off and land is magical.
* italian at the beachfront of KP.
A couple of visits to no bulls**t jennys for sunnies, tshirts, dresses etc no hassling set price we love jenny and her sense of humour and always visit her shop. She tells me she has too move as they are going to build a hotel on the site but "no worries you ring me and I come and pick u up in september and show you new shop"
We have several Balinese friends we have known for over 10 years we had a pool party for them at the villa, lots of swimming, kids, laughing, talking, they felt so happy to be able to come and visit us freely this time, we ordered home delivered pizza for them and of course drink of choice.......coke, it was a great day and as I look at my fotos the joy on their faces and the beautiful smiles is something i will cherish.
