Depends on traffic but i usually allow 3 hours including a pit stop at Bedugul. The hot springs at Banjar are worth a visit and also the Sing Sing and Munduk waterfalls. Have local markets right in town and shops on both main streets leading to the beach where you can purchase much the same stuff you can buy down south. It can be done as a day trip but much better if you stay a night or two. There are many hotels that dont cost an arm and a leg right on the beach and a few good restaurants to choose from. You will find Lovina much more laid back than Kuta/Legian, no traffic and apart from the beach you will not be hassled any where near as much. Take the time to come and enjoy, i'm sure you will not regret it. Cheers.
