The ceremony went off without a hitch, even with out 2yr old grandson walking the aisle to bring up our wedding rings and of course more tears shed when we said our vows and by this time there was another 30 or so people who had stopped on the beach to watch. After the ceremony, the staff rearranged the setting and in no time had tables, linen, cutlery, glasses etc out in order & ready for the dinner. The dinner was an absolute feast. For what we paid per head, we struggled to get through it all and it all tasted magnificent. Congratulations to Epi from Bali Exotic Weddings & the staff at the Cuisine Restaurant for making this special day of ours a memory that will stay with all of us forever.
When the night finished there, we were taken back to our hotel and as I opened the door to our room, we had another great surprise. The hotel staff had arranged the bath towels in the shape of 2 swans kissing on the bed, inside a large loveheart of rose petals with a huge bouquete of flowers with a bottle of wine & 2 glasses at the bedside. That topped off a truly memorable day.
Having made it through the first week with the ceremony as the main focus, we were now able to relax and enjoy to next 2 weeks to take our time and do what we felt like doing.
A few days after, it was time for our grandson's 2nd birthday party so we went off the Buppa Gumps for that. Really enjoyable evening with great food & drinks although still too pricy, but the staff there brought out a cake for him, everyone sang happy birthday with them and he loved it.
Activities.
Did the White water rafting again on the Telaga Waja river and this was by for the best as the water level was up quite high, so not so much scraping the paddle on rocks and pushing the raft over rocks also.
Did the undersea walk at Nusa Dua which was a good experience to do once, but probably won't do again. Time got cut short underwater as my youngest daughter was feeling sick and throwing up inside a helmet underwater wasn't an option, so we went up.
All my daughters, son in law & a friend went out one day to do the quad bike ride and they reckoned it was the best thing they've ever done in Bali. Highly recommended as it is well run with a great spread to eat at the end.
They also went out to do the Elephant ride, which they said was well worth it also.
Eating out.
Kori Restaurant: Poppies II. Still our favourite restaurant in Bali. Magnificent food, great service and ambience. You pay a bit more, but well worth it.
Bluefin Japanese in Kuta: Our favourite Japanese restaurant. Had lunch there twice and theyhave great lunch specials.
Kopi Pot: Legian St. Had our first meal there and it was ok. Nothing special and there wasn't many people there, but the service was very slow.
Gosha's: Melasti St. Was one of our favourite restaurants but a bad experience has turned us off. My daughter ordered the pork spare ribs, which I also had. Mine were great, but my daughter had eaten some of hers and when she cut further in, there was blood dripping from it. She told the waitress that she was feeling sick from it & couldn't eat any more and when the bills came around, they were still charging for it. We argued that we weren't paying for it, so she says she will get the ribs cooked some more for my daughter to eat. I know money is a bit tight over there at present, but bad service looses more business than one meal. We made sure everyone else in the place heard our argument and we left.
Tubes: Poppies II. Great food & drinks at a very reasonable price. I ate a fantastic dish called Rendang Sapi for the 3 times we ate there.
Billy's Bar: Garlic Lane. Went there twice for dinner and loved the whole experience. BBQ night on Thursdays is great, the band they have on Wednesday nights is the best I've heard in Bali and the boys there, Jack & Loffi are hilarious.
Queens of India: At the front of the Dynasty Hotel. If you like curry, you'll love this place. You pay a bit more for Bali, but still much cheaper than Oz, for the quality & amount you get. Can't speak highly enough of the food here.
Rosso Vivo: Kuta Seaview Resort. Very pricy, but nice food.
Brewers Bar: Legian St. Food is reasonably priced, nice but nothing spectacular. The drawcard of this place is the Beer Cocktails. got stuck on the After Shot, a mix of beer with a flaming Sambuca shot dropped in to it. The taste messe with your head the first time, but you soon get used to it. Great staff there also.
Still more to come...............
