Day 5...
The next morning i was much more onto the prevention of a hangover slamming down a couple of panadol when i first stirred then dozed back to sleep. Dear friend and fellow synchronised swimmer faired a bit worse and was a bit jealous when i bounded out of bed . I then confessed about the panadol at 6.00 am and she wasn't as impressed. I think she just wished she had done it. Ha ha 1 to me
Down to brekkie and i must say i have been deprived of my bacon jerky all bar 1 day. As i burst into the buffet room, salivating at the thought of this crispy delight i am once again shut down. I eye off the brekkie team, by chance have i kept them awake with our late night pool antics and this is their payback? I start praying profusely to the gods of Bacon jerky that they will bring out a tray, but alas i was thwarted and chicken sausages and fried noodles will have to suffice.
We wanted to go back to Paddy's as we vaguely remember a chap taking pics and we want to see if there is any incriminating evidence of our ‘try hard to be teeny boppers night'
We are so over the traffic by this stage and decide to try a scooter. After our mates stack on their scooters, this took courage. Letting our drivers know how completely paranoid * cough pathetic* we were, we gingerly got on the scooters, preparing for the onslaught of crazy drivers and tooting horns and facing my sister when i got home.
OMG, we had so much fun! The drivers were fantastic, constantly asking if we were alright. This could of also been because my gripped hands were perched precariously close to his boy bits and he still wanted the option of having children. We have found a new way of getting round town and are kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner.
At Paddy's we found some choice photos and , dare i say, it sure looks like we rocked out. We got a few and they added writing on them which was good for our birthday girl- she felt pretty spesh.
My mate also had the best epiphany while we were there... As we are planning a ‘Back to Bali Night‘ in a couple of months for all our friends and family who have been to Bali ( and those not so lucky) she asked for some Paddy's headbands that we can write the invitations on to send out. So we grabbed 50 and got back on the scooters to head up Legian st to a great little shop that has awesome mosaic goodies.
Last year i got a spectacular lamp from here that looks amazing when you turn it on and after i managed to get it home in one piece i had to get another for my other bedside table. The work that is put into these pieces is truly breathtaking and would take days to complete.
Lilly, the shop owner remembered me and asked after my sister who was with me last trip. We got some more lamps, mosaic words, a couple of plates and Lilly threw in some freebies.
Though i was rather taken with the ‘boy bit lamps' they had, i didn't think i had anywhere i could display these, though i am sure they would of made a great talking piece lol. Lilly kindly offered to plane proof our goodies with bubble wrap and she even dropped them off for us at the hotel. How is that for service!
Lilly is situated a few hundred metres past Padma st on the right hand side ( going towards bintang supermarket) drop her a visit she is just gorgeous.
Off back down Legain towards Melasti street, we stopped at Sita Fashions ( which doesn't actually sell any clothing ( isn't Bali quirky) to get some metal wall hangings. These are all fixed price and are quite cheap so i grabbed a few more for gifts for the family being the generous girl i am.
By now we are shopped out, hungry and in desperate need of a Mix match vodka lollie water, so we hop another scooter and zip back to La Monde on Padma st for a feed.. Our friends had raved about a seafood platter they had there a few nights previously but we just had spring rolls and fried calamari to tide us till dinner.
I had to laugh when at one stage the waiter was banging a large stick in this box thingo in the bar area above his head. A big rat ran out an along the rafters. It was at that moment i realised i am a seasoned Bali girl because my first thought wasn't to screech with revulsion, but think how bloody classic - this will make a good story back home.
Later we meet our friends at their hotel and head to an Italian beach front restaurant at the Kumala Panti hotel. This was a great restaurant with belly dancers ( being Italian and all lol) for entertainment.
Had an awesome octopus salad entree which was amazing and ordered the seafood platter for mains. Though the fish was beautiful and sweet,it still had many bones which i wasn't expecting because it looked like a fillet and with the lighting being a bit dark it was a tad hard to negotiate.
A friend got mushroom and bacon gnocchi which was heaven on earth and i mentally kicked myself for not getting Italian in an Italian restaurant. I mean Duh! Ahh lesson learned haha.
Have a few more drinks with our friends at their hotel then we head off home for a good night's sleep as we have to leave the next day:(
