As the others have said it is very expensive in Bali.

If you are going to take in extra don't try to "smuggle" as it all gets picked up during the xray process.

We were in Bali last month. We (2 adults) brought in 9 bottles - mixed wine and sparkling and declared it. Customs saw it on the xray machine and questioned us straight away, we showed that we had declared it and we paid $40 in "duty". The 1st price was $500 but as soon as the counter offer of $40 was offered it was taken. Someone next to us had wine they had not declared. They also had duty free spirits. It was picked up during the xray process and they offered to pay over $100 - it was declined by the customs officer and then he proceeded to ask them to fill out forms etc. I'm not sure of the outcome as we left the airport.

Over the next couple of days we had 2 friends arrive. They both brought in wine/sparkling and they delcared their wine. 1 friend: 9 bottles, paid 300,000 rp, the other friend 4 bottles paid $10 AUD.

We have declared our excess wine for the last couple of years and never had a problem. We never take in spirits (nor did our friends) I'm not sure if we have just been lucky but it appears that if you declare they are happy to let you through or pay "duty"
